How to Play Football Career Simulator

This guide explains how a career works from player creation to retirement. It covers the core systems shared across every Career World.

1. Create your player

Start on the homepage or a country page. Choose a career world, then set your player name, position, preferred foot, region, starting route and difficulty.

  • Position affects which attributes matter most in matches and development.
  • Starting route changes your first club, OVR range and early offers.
  • Difficulty changes how forgiving development and opportunities feel.

2. Choose a Career World

The country you choose is not cosmetic. It defines clubs, leagues, cups, career starts, transfer customs, local events and national-team context.

Japan can include school, university and JFL routes. The USA can include high school, college, draft and MLS football. Brazil puts more weight on state competition and the route into the national leagues.

3. Understand OVR and development

OVR is your overall player rating. It rises when you train, play minutes and perform well. Age, potential, form, injuries and playing time all influence how quickly you improve.

A stronger club does not always mean faster growth. Reduced minutes at a bigger team can slow development compared with regular football at a smaller club.

4. Training

Between matches you can work on attributes through training. Training choices affect growth, fatigue and readiness for the next fixtures.

5. Matches

Match performances affect form, reputation, playing time and future opportunities. Strong runs can bring better offers, cup progression or national-team attention.

6. Playing time

Minutes are one of the most important variables in the game. Regular football usually develops a player faster than sitting on the bench at a higher-level club.

7. Transfers

Clubs can show interest based on your OVR, age, form, current level and role. You can accept, reject or wait for better timing.

Not every move is an upgrade in playing terms. Evaluate the promised role, league level and development path before accepting.

8. Loans

Loans can unlock minutes when your current club has too much competition. They are often the fastest way to grow before a permanent move.

9. Contracts

Contract situations can affect your security, wages and transfer flexibility. Some worlds add local rules around registration, roster limits or release clauses.

10. Injuries

Injuries interrupt form and development. Recovery time and match load matter, especially in worlds with dense schedules or long travel.

11. Competitions

League football is only part of the career. Domestic cups, playoffs, continental tournaments and world-specific competitions can change a season even when league form is average.

12. National teams

Consistent performances at club level can lead to youth or senior national-team call-ups. Competition for places remains high after selection.

13. Retirement

Careers can run through multiple phases until retirement. Your full player history remains available in the save.

14. Saving your career

After you create a career, progress is saved locally in your browser on this device. Return later through Continue career on the same browser to pick up where you left off.
